International Volunteer Day (IVD) is celebrated every year on 5 December to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and recognize the contribution of volunteers worldwide in peace and development, and their contribution to accelerate SDGs at local, national, and international levels. This year’s theme – “If Everyone Did…” centers on ‘everyone’ and focuses on collective action in a time where much of the progress made on the 2030 Agenda is stalled or reversed. There is a sense of urgency to respond to global development challenges ranging from climate action to natural disasters, reducing inequalities, hunger to health, and rising poverty to endangered natural resources – all requiring collective action. There is no better call to action than asking everyone to do something to make positive change.

About IVD

IVD 2023 Celebration arrives at a crucial time, with urgent issues e.g., COVID-19, climate change, and poverty demanding collective action. Volunteerism emerges as the key to engage people worldwide and ignite positive change. Under the banner of "If Everyone Did…", we unite to confront these challenges head-on and revitalize hope for a better world.

IVD 2023 Celebration in Thailand is a significant event that highlights Thailand's commendable commitment to sustainable development through volunteerism. With over 13.15 million volunteers actively contributing to various sustainable development causes, Thailand has exemplified the spirit of altruism and civic responsibility.

By endorsing "Giving and Volunteerism" as a national agenda, the Thai Government fosters a culture of goodwill among its citizens, leading to a robust volunteer community that drives positive change in various sectors. This commitment to volunteerism extends beyond national boundaries, with Thailand actively participating in international volunteer work and contributing to the improvement of regional and global volunteer initiatives.
